Privacy statement
Last updated: 2 October 2026
In short
- You do not need an account, and we do not ask for any personal data.
- Terratones itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
- To show covers, previews, artist information and videos, your browser loads them from Apple, Deezer, Wikipedia and, only when you click a video button, YouTube. Those services receive your IP address.
- Visitor numbers are counted without cookies and without identifying you.
Who is responsible
Terratones (terratones.net) is run by [NAME OR COMPANY NAME], [ADDRESS]. Questions about privacy: [CONTACT E-MAIL].
What we process
Visiting the site
The site runs on our own server at Hetzner Online in Germany. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and the pages you request in order to send them to you. The web server keeps no log of visits; we do not use your IP address to identify or follow you.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with GoatCounter, which runs on our own server (stats.terratones.net); nothing goes to another company. It uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses. It records the page, the site you came from, your browser, screen size and country (looked up from the IP address, which is then discarded), and actions on the site such as which videos and previews are played and which countries are opened. To avoid counting one visit twice, it briefly keeps a code derived from your IP address and browser, which is deleted within a day. We only look at totals, to see what is used and to improve the site.
Lookups we make ourselves
To build the charts and add information, our server fetches public data from Apple Music, kworb.net, Deezer, Wikidata, MusicBrainz, the YouTube Data API, Ticketmaster and the news feeds of NME, Pitchfork, Billboard and Rolling Stone. No information about you is sent along.
Content your browser loads from other services
- Apple (covers and 30-second previews from the iTunes Store) and Deezer (covers and previews of songs Apple does not have): loaded when you open a chart or play a preview. See Apple’s privacy policy and Deezer’s.
- Wikipedia (artist photos and descriptions): loaded when the artist card opens. See the Wikimedia privacy policy.
- YouTube (music videos): nothing from YouTube is loaded until you click a video button. The video is then played by YouTube through youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube (Google) receives your IP address and information about your device and how you use the player.
- Links to Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Wikipedia, Ticketmaster and news sites open those sites in a new tab; their own privacy policies apply there.
YouTube API Services
Terratones uses YouTube API Services to find the music video of a song. By watching videos on this site you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. The Google Privacy Policy applies to how Google handles data from the video player. We do not access, store or share any data about you through the YouTube API. Per song we keep only the id of its video, and we check every month whether that video still exists; the rest is fetched from YouTube when needed.
How long we keep data
We keep no personal data. The visitor statistics contain no IP addresses or cookies and are kept as totals.
Your rights
Under the GDPR (AVG) you can ask what data we have about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because we do not keep personal data there will usually be nothing to find, but you can always ask: [CONTACT E-MAIL]. If you think we handle data incorrectly, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
When the site changes in a way that matters for privacy, for example when we add affiliate links or new services, we update this statement and the date at the top.
